REALITY
Look around wherever you are when reading this and what you will see is your reality. Everything in that reality is as real (or unreal) as you are. Is it reality or is it an illusion. Does it matter? Either way this is the only "reality" that we know.
Now consider that all that you know about reality is coming to your brain by virtue of your senses. Your brain receives raw information from your senses and then takes that information and builds a 3-D image of reality within it and that is what you “see”. In essence your brain creates something like a hologram, which is simply a three-dimensional representation of an object which has been imprinted with a holograph (or code) onto a photographic plate, by the light reflected off of an object upon which a laser beam has been focused .The hologram itself is not an image and it is usually unintelligible when viewed under diffuse ambient light. It is an encoding of the light field as an interference pattern of seemingly random variations in the opacity, density, or surface profile of the photographic medium. The tiniest part of the hologram is repeated throughout the whole.
Reality is therefore no more than a thought consisting of mathematical codes contained in geometric patterns seen in our minds as three-dimensional holographic forms representing our reality. The problem is that your brain can only create a physical reality based on what your senses can observe and send to it, and it can observe only so very little of the entire electromagnetic spectrum.
If the electromagnetic spectrum was to be laid out as a narrow strip of radiation which includes Gamma rays, X-rays, Ultraviolet rays, visible rays, Infrared rays, microwaves and Radio waves. Anything above ultra-violet, and below infra-red is beyond the ability of humans to perceive.
If the entire electromagnetic spectrum were theoretically represented by a roll of movie film, it would be over 2,500 miles long, about the distance from California to Alaska, based on what we presently understand, it could be much larger . However, the section representing visible light that a human being can see (upon which we base our entire sense of reality) would be represented by a section of that film about one inch long .
Humans are insensitive to sounds below 20 cycles and above 20,000 cycles per second. As one grows grow older, the audible range becomes narrower, particularly in the higher frequencies. Elephants can hear sounds well below 20 cps. Snakes can hear lower frequencies than human beings can detect, hear or feel. Many animals can communicate in very high frequencies, where human beings can hear nothing. There are many creatures that can smell things that we cannot smell. Our sense organs are very limited. However, most of us don’t realize this because we are so accustomed to living within those limitations, all very similar to the people in Plato’s Allegory of the Cave.
Obviously, there is much more to the Universe than our five senses tell us that exist within our limited perception of reality .
The same is true for sound and smell and taste and feeling. The problem is that there is much more to reality than we can experience through our very limited senses. If our senses cannot recognize it, our brain cannot factor it in to create our perception of reality.
We are like a person who is led into a very dark place. It is so dark that that person can see absolutely nothing. The person can feel those things immediately around him, he can hear things close by and louder things far away. The person might smell something. The person will get the impression that reality is limited to the things immediately around him that he can experience and those things that are far away that are loud and which he can hear. However, if someone would turn on the light that person would see that the room was enormous and filled with millions of wonderful things that the person never imagined when in the dark.

Our perception of reality is like that. If we could see the entire electromagnetic spectrum, of if we could hear sounds beyond of range of hearing or if we could smell or feel the things beyond our normal range we could begin to know the vastness of the nature of true reality. Our human bodies act like a filter of the true reality. Our bodies only allow our brain to receive and process a very, very small amount of information from our senses about the true nature of the reality of the Universe. Scientist cannot explain 'Black Matter" , it well may be that Black Matter is simply matter emitting light at a spectrum beyond the ability of our senses to see it.
This may be the reason why so many religions teach that the true nature of God is incomprehensible to us. Because we , as humans, construct our impression of reality in our brain based on the information received from our senses and our senses only receive a minute sampling of reality from our sense organs.
The information we receive from our senses is reconstructed in our brain as 3D images of the reality we know. That would explain why so many religions, prophets and philosophies teach that to know the Universe, we must first look within and understand ourselves. Similar to a hologram, the smallest impression of reality within us is repeated over and over on a larger and larger scale in the Universe. The geometry of the smallest thing in the Universe repeats itself within the largest things in the Universe. That is why an atom is constructed like a solar system ,which is constructed like a galaxy, which is constructed like a hurricane, which has the geometry of an eye, which has the geometry of nebula, ad infinitum.
We try to understand space, time and distance, but we can only try to understand it from the perspective of the reality we can perceive. Space, time and distance may act very differently in the other areas of the electromagnetic spectrum that we cannot perceive. For instance in Quantum Mechanics we know that quantum particles can exist in one place and everywhere else at the same time. The speed of light in our reality is about 186,000 miles per second , or 671 million miles per hour, and is thought to be the limit of the speed that something can travel in the reality of the Universe that we can perceive.
However, if we move into another place on the electromagnetic spectrum, far beyond our limited perception, we may find that light has no speed limit and that, like in quantum mechanics, something can travel and be in one place and anywhere else in the Universe in the same moment. This would mean that we would have the ability to travel anywhere in the Universe that we wanted to travel instantaneously.
Let’s call the reality of the places in the other areas of the known electromagnetic spectrum, beyond the ability of our senses to perceive them, “other dimensions” ( although they are not really other dimensions, but are simply located at points on the electromagnetic spectrum that exist beyond our ability to perceive them). Like space and distance, time in other dimensions could be quite different. We could theoretically be able to move forward or backward in time as easily as we move forward and backward great distances instantaneously.
Our soul ,or consciousness, incarnates into our physical body. When freed from our physical body at death there is no end to our consciousness, there is just an end to the physical reality we knew, as perceived by our senses, when we were incarnated into our bodies ,which are simply nothing more than vehicles for our consciousness in this physical “reality". Some say that our bodies are nothing more than meat covered skeletons which act as vehicles for our souls in this reality. They could be correct.
At that point of death our consciousness would perceive a different “reality” unrestrained by the physical senses of our physical body. At that point we could recognize that the life we led “incarnate” (which is Greek meaning “into the flesh”) was only a temporary life in a single “reality”. We never die. Our consciousness, or spirit-soul, only moves from one place in the electromagnetic spectrum (dimension) to another. That other dimension, or dimensions, is not somewhere else, but is all around us now, we just are not aware of it because, without the use of scientific instruments, we cannot perceive it, or any of them.
We have been given the gift of this wonderful, beautiful, marvelous planet, Earth, on which to live our incarnated life in this physical reality. We take this Earth for granted and fail to see it for the very special thing that it is in the vastness of the Universe.
Our lives on Earth should be lived by enjoying and preserving our planet. Instead we abuse the Earth by raping its resources for the financial gain of the few and the material toys of the many. All at the expense of the Earth. We become numbed down by our news media into believing that the goals of our life are to have the correct washing powder or shaving lotion or latest cell phone or car or largest home or bank account. We have no conception of who and what we really are or what our purpose here truly is.
This must end. We have been given an incarnated life as a human on this beautiful planet and we must enjoy that life and protect that planet and keep it healthy.
Our consciousness is the descendant of the original “awareness of nothing” improved by the “memory” and "experiences" in the physical world of our reality. Through many lives is has created the reality that exist as the physical reality we know. It is the only physical reality we know because it is the only physical reality that we can perceive with our senses.
Consciousness may explain why the laws of quantum mechanics seem so odd to us because as we examine particles to their smallest parts what we actually find are not “particles” at all, but rather we find the consciousness which exist within ourselves that creates and holds together ,in an atom, the smallest of those "particles".
Science is currently looking for these tiniest of particles that make up the inside of atoms with machines called colliders or atom smashers which try to smash open atoms and then examine what comes out. One of the particles they are looking for, and think that they have found, is a thing called the Higgs Bosons or the “God Particle”. Aside from being wrong about the existence of a “God Particle” (the name is an oxymoron) because neither is it a particle, nor is God a particle. The Higgs Boson is not inside of the smallest of particles imaginable, it is the consciousness that holds subatomic "particles” together to form the atom.
Life is a series of problems and mysteries. A problem can be solved. A mystery is something we must attempt to understand. Science believes that it has solved the problem of the Higgs Boson, but the truth is that science has not yet begun to understand the mystery of the Higgs Boson. Only when that mystery is fully understood will science then fully know what it is calling the Higgs Boson.
Ask yourself, is the sole purpose of human life simply to journey from birth to death, only to have that process repeated generation after generation? Or is there more and if there is , then what is it?

POSTSCRIPT: The day before yesterday it was raining very hard here in South Louisiana. We had been having Monsoon like rains constantly for over 24 hours. Late in the afternoon I grabbed a book written by my Mentor in the Theosophical Society, Dr. Robert Scott Ellwood, retired Dean Emeritus of the School of Religion of the University of Southern California. I got into a very comfortable chair a few feet in front of some of the two story picture windows that run across part of the back of my home. I read and periodically stopped to think while staring out of the windows into the rain. Occasionally, the quite was interrupted by clasps of thunder and flashes of lightning. Slowly, I began to notice geometrical shapes take form in the branches of the trees in my backyard as the lightning flashed behind and over them and became aware of the similar geometry of the tree limbs and bolts of lightning. This theory started coming together in my mind from those geometrical patterns and from the information stored in my memory.

I would like to thank Dr. Elwood for his kind and professional help and for the inspiration I received from his book when formulating this article. Also, I would like to apologize to him for creating a new circular driveway in the front yard of his home after dropping him off one night after dinner in Ojai. I really thought the driveway extended through those two trees in his front yard. RSR (Robert Scott Ramsey)
